South at Last

Yay! We're here on Vancouver Island (which is "south" to me!) We had a very good weekend at the Tradex, Abba finished his CD with two High in Class scores, plus an extra leg because we were entered. T'was nice to win my entry fees back along with some prize goodies. Abba's scores weren't great, 189.5 / 193.5 /193.5, but I think it's a tough venue and he got the job done. It was quite wonderful to not do conformation. No nylons, no nerves ;-)
cheers,
Karen and

Bravo, Abba !!! So tell us the truth: Do you miss having a little brother or sister around to run and play with, or have you found Nirvana as your Mom's complete and total Belgian Focus ?
Best !

Thanks guys :-) It was fun, and if you ever get a chance to have Michel Calhoun as a judge, do enter. Here's this 6' 7" (or so) black man whose obvious mission is to make obedience fun. He talks constantly, walks constantly, talks to the audience as you work, and uses humour to put everyone at ease. With one team who was having a REALLY hard time with the heel off-leash, he turned to the audience and said "well, the good news is, the heeling part is over....." He was just a hoot.
Sunny, I think Abba is liking being an only son for now. More time with me AND he gets one whole side of the bed!
cheers,
Karen and Abba

Not sure Vancouver Island qualifies as the south , but that is coming from someone in Texas!
Congratulations to You and Abba earning your CD
I would love to show under that judge, maybe one day he will come to the real south.

Michel Calhoun is great! He was in Calgary at the AKC summer show. I wish we had been ready to do Novice. Even outside of the ring he was so encouraging to the beginning exhibitors. I overheard him talking to one Novice person who had already shown under him. He told them to keep practicing and that Novice A people were vital to the future of obedience. The person left looking energized & hopeful. I hope that Elwood & I can enter under him someday.
