We're Baaack!

Boy have we ever missed everyone! It's been a very long 8 months but our move is finally done and all major work done at Shangrila. Well for this year anyway LOL Dan and the dogs moved here in April while I stayed with my best friend (home on wknds) until school finished. Then I moved up June 30th. I was thrilled to no longer have that 3 hr drive every Friday and Sunday night!
We spent the summer tearing off all the decks so we could replace a damaged foundation wall and replace drainage. So now there's nothing but dirt on 3 sides of the house and no decks until spring :(
The dogs don't mind the dirt at all but my vacuum doesn't know what hit it! LOL

I have lurked on occasion and must thank Fataah and Sheila for their advice when friends were having troubles with their puppies health issues. All are well now or at least seeing the right vets.

Finding the right vet was a big fear of mine when we moved but the Doggie Gods were watching! When we went to meet the vet a neighbour recommended I was shocked when after the 40 minute drive to her farm\office, we walked in and the vet tech smiled broadly and said " woohoo....Belgians!" I was even more thrilled when discussing Bruin being neutered she said "You know Belgians can be sensitive to anesthetics." A vet that knew the dogs! How could I be anymore thrilled?? After Bruin's surgery we had to go away and she said he needed to stay quiet. OK! Well our only option for the dogs was to go spend a wknd with their buddy's Shadow, Storm and Sabrina. No, No! said the vet. When I told her we were new and knew no place to take him she said "Fine he's staying with me!" I nearly cried! A fear free weekend for all :)
Anyway, now we're settled, getting wood in for winter and walking our butts off daily :) Here are just a few of our many pics from daily walks and games of hide and seek in the woods. (sorry for the photo intensity but how do you choose???)

Hurry up mom! Cheevers all grown up in the foreground :)

Exploring the new ATV path Dad cut through the woods so we can get to the firewood.

Butt shots for those who enjoy them :)

Our favourite trail to the lake.

Yeah!! The lake, maybe someday we'll actually swim! They love the water but heaven forbid feet leave the bottom! LOL

My new favourite of Bruin. Peek-a-boo!

Hide and seek....mom will never find us here!

The other side of the lake Thanksgiving weekend. I know, no dogs, but just so beautiful :)

The end of a very long day!

I hope you enjoyed :) Bruin and Cheevers will not be enjoying the next 2 weeks so much as hunting season began this morning. On leash at all times till it's over. That's fine with Bruin who already ran inside this morning after the first shot was heard at 7:30. He's scared to death of the sound so of course Cheevers is too.

I have been reading posts when I get the time. Congratulations to all who have competed this summer and had new puppies :)

You never really know when dogs will suddenly start swimming. (speaking of water, looks like yours are doing great in leaves, lol)
My Tooty started this summer at 3+yrs, & he just loves it, no looking back once they launch & do it.

Gorgeous scenery with Belgians to match. How on earth do you manage to keep those butt-shots from turning into burr-shots out there in the wild? I can feel the burrs/seeds/stickers almost reaching out to Bogey through the screen. So tell us your secret!

LOL Kathy! We had just begun the walk so no burrs YET! No secret, we just spend hours picking them out daily only to begin again the next day :)

Prob you already know that Cowboy Magic -a little rub on, makes the stickers stick less. (well, lots easier to comb out)
We ran into a type that is hanging hard & fast in the dry hair this weekend.

I was wondering where you'd disappeared to - now I can see why no word from you lately - you're living in Shangri-la - and that's why you named your property that!! Cuz it is!!

Welcome back - boy Cheevers has grown a bit, hasn't he? Great pics - the boys look wonderful - and what a bonus to find a vet like that!!

Re: We're Baaack! new [re: Grace]

Welcome back! Great pics.

Shep says the boys are right: keeping their feet on the ground in water is the best way to go! (and yes, "I am a great swimmer; I just know what I like!")

Love the picture of the boys asleep on the couch, with the tongue sticking out. That's when I know that Shep is really tired. That, and he snores!
